Lately I’ve been losing my feelings for nail polish. I haven’t been as excited about it much. So I decided that it was time to get back to the whole reason why I started. I believe my very first posts were strictly nail art! How in the world did I get so far from what I love?
What I have to show today is something that I’ve wanted to do since before I started this blog, but I never really believed that I could do it well enough to even like it myself. So here they are. I could have made these again on a plastic bag and transferred the design so that both hands had it- which I would have loved- but it had taken quite some time- about an hour. Cranky babies can’t wait forever you know?
I know they don’t look like they’d all fit into each other but that wasn’t the point of this. I love these little dolls and have two small sets of my own that I received (one of them later on by accident) from the largest Christmas store I’ve ever seen located in Frankenmuth, Michigan. The whole town is too cute and the hand painted ornaments at the store are to die for! The actual name of the store is Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland.
Oh and my accidental set was purchased at the same time mine was except it was for my niece that I grew up with since the time she was a baby. We were most likely 7 and 12 (me being older) at the time we got these and it was one of the best family vacations we went on. When my mother passed away almost two years ago these dolls were in her knick knack cabinet and both were given to me. After contacting my niece she said I could just keep it, as long as she knew I had it it was fine.
ALSO! I will do these again sometime and I will try to be smart and make sure I have my dolls with my pictures! *They don’t look like the nails I did here*
So I recently bought my 1 and 1/2 year old son some super cute pajama’s at Costco with adorable monsters on them! So here are nail inspired by toddler p.j.’s!
I used acrylic paint for the characters so I wasn’t sure how a regular matte top coat would work. I had planned form the beginning to wear it as matte because that’s how the p.j.’s look- fuzzy! But I didn’t feel like that was the time for experimenting and did SH Insta Dri and then Hard Candy Matte-ly In Love. IMO the matte does look best!
Wow…looking at that title is just seems like something nasty! But whatever! My NOTD is for both HANDS because they’re different. For some reasone I very very very very very rarely, and purposefully try not to, have matching hands. For some reason it drives me nuts. It doesn’t bother me at all on other people- just me. It’s literally like *looks at left hand* ‘Ohhh pretty.” *Looks at right* “WHAT THE HECK?!?! O.O” All surprised and stuff like the world is coming to an end. Loose screws- I know.
Also I’m getting pretty good at picturing my right hand because I am a righty!
So yea sorry about my purple thumb I have this ongoing split and I can’t stop picking at it and the nail polish did no want to cover that with 3 coats. I know the ombre effect is now a old trend but I’m trying to catch up and I still like the looks of them. I also could have did better I think color wise but surprisingly this is all that would work with certain colors being a must have together and then wedging in a few “odd” colors IMO. I don’t think index purple is in place. Too bright. And alot of the blues dried very similar…shaded yes but almost “too close”. I will try this again with different colors!
Due to my super strict “no buy” I’m trying to get creative. But honestly this started out with my daughter. First she wanted dark blue *check*…with dots…I opened the box and she picked gold. Then she wanted hearts. So there was one on the thumb and then I asked her if she wanted the dots in a row…After she reviewed my handy work she agreed. Did I mention shes 5??? Quite picky and particular about what she wants. I liked how it turned out so I did mine the same. Her great news for the day is that she got excepted to the out of district school down the road to start kindergarten! woo hoo! Therer’s 9 kids inthe class, how great is that?
Here we are!
I just love the thumbs. The blue is Wet n Wild Blue Moon and the gold is Maybelline Bold Gold. Also as you canseeshe takes after her dad more in skin tone but she does tan rather well…not that I encourage it. I’ve been telling all these beautifully white people around me all the time that it’s perfectly fine to NOT be as tan as I am. I knowthat sounds rude a selfish, but I don’t tan on purpose and I wouldn’t care if I was sheet white! People in other countries are obsessed with being white (symbolism for purity and cleanliness I’m sure) , for some reason Americans aren’t!
Hello! Lately I’ve been trying to tackle the sketches I’ve drawn out in my notebooks but sometimes- like this one- I just jump ahead because I am literally dreaming about doing the design. Or just thinking about it even up to the time of filming. So I’ll be honest- I was inspired by Mr. Krabs from Spongebob Squarepants. I haven’t been watching the show so much lately but it used to be my #1 favie cartoon, and those characters are in my notebooks.
I wanted to keep this in line with summer itself so I did try to make my crab NOT look like Mr. Krabs but if you wanted to do that you could just add a little darker red zig-zag nose and little eye lash looking things at the tops of the eyes.
Here’s The Tutorial:
Here’s a pic!
Here’s What I Used:
- Kleancolor Metallic Aqua
- Kleancolor Ocean Wave
- Acrylic Paint- red, black, white.
- Top coat (in picture) Sally Hansen Insta Dri Anit-Chip top coat
So there you go, now go get your beach on.
If you love nail art and haven’t heard of Robin Moses (robinmosesnailart on Youtube), you’re missing out…big time.
Here’s the original tut.
Lady has madddd skills. Here’s my variation of that.
It’s been awhile since I’ve put up any art!!! My model is my sister-in-law, who has been nicknamed Billy basically from birth. When I saw Robin’s tut I knew Billy would love the bright and dark combination… I would love this on myself but they way children are make this kind of effort impossible. I just love this! 😀 Oh before I forget. The black polish is WnW Black Creme. The rest is acrylic, top coated with Sally Hansen Insta Dri.
Hello! Are you ready for this?! Compared to my last post which made me want to scream with horror, this one makes me want to squeal with delight. I don’t want to type anything else until you see this! FYI I can’t stand the word pastel so I have omitted it from this post with my own “proper” term.
WEEEEEE!!!!!!! I love it! Doesn’t it make you want to hug a unicorn? I think this is something that would be either spring or baby shower appropriate. Now for the technique we’re going to go to one of my most FAVORITE youtuber’s Colette! She was inspired by another person on YT and I was likewise inspired by Colette but for something a little different and softer. I also wanted to show that this is doable on shorter nails. Anyways she has a wonderful tutorial on how to do this rainbow manicure in neon’s and leopard print. It’s only 3 colors, 4 when you count your base coat. So real quick here’s what I used!
What I used:
- Base color- OPI Alpine Snow (white)
- Pink- Sally Hansen “Bubblegum Pink”
- Yellow- Sinful Colors “Unicorn”
- Blue- Sinful Colors “Cinderella”
- Glitter on ring finger- Salley Hansen “Hallucinate”
- Glitter on other fingers- China Glaze “Snow Globe”
So what do you think are you in love as much as I am? 😉
Hello! Today I have something new and exciting (to me)!
This is something that I’ve been working on quite awhile now and even though it’s done and over I’m still a little bit hesitant to share it with the world. I will be honest- I could have done better. But if I had left the audio in it’s original form you would hear my kids, THE WHOLE TIME. Just an excuse I know, but still this is my “baby” and it is what it is. I think it’s done well enough that the characters are recognizable. Despite my distractions I had fun doing this. I didn’t research into it too much but I did notice in a quick look through some YT videos and the main characters in the Mario series that are being done over and over again are the 1up Mushroom, Mario himself, Luigi, Yoshi….so I thought why not do his enemies?! I’m hoping (but no promises!) in the future to do more in this category.
Since this video was done awhile ago I don’t have what I used out. If you have any specific questions about things I’m sure I could dig around and find it.
Finally as promised! I had a lot of fun putting all of these together. I hope you all enjoy. They’re all video’s so sit back and just watch! 🙂
Well there you go! Tell me, are you a fan of the Muppets? If so, which is your favorite one?
I will update in a few days of the items used….
For those who like to quilt or sew or may recognize the term batik. For those who don’t- it’s a type of dyed fabric. To be more accurate, its a type of dying technique. Not that it’s important to the tutorial you can learn more here. Anyways, getting back on track now. I was admiring a scrap piece of batik fabric laying around my children’s great grandma’s sewing room and thought it would make a fun nail art design. The awesome thing I think about batiks is that not one single square inch is exactly the same as any other. Some places may be shaded a like but not as if it was patterned. (BEHIND the pattern! You know what I mean :P) I had a lot of fun making this video! I hope you enjoy!
What I Used:
- “Medium” Puple: Sinful Colors “Verbena”
- Magenta: Essie “Big Spender”
- Dark Purple: Pure Ice “No Means No”
- Shimmery Purple: Sally Hansen X-treme Wear “Virtual Violet”
- Pinky Purple: Sinful Colors “Let Me Go”
- Light Pink for DOTS: Nicole by OPI “Kim-pletely In Love”
- A porous sponge ( You can use a regular cosmetic sponge but I like the other better)
- Tweezers, for the sponge.
- Dotting tools ( Or hair pins, sewng pins, toothpicks…you get the idea)
So for those of you paying attention- look up EpicMealTime on youtube! Take a wild guess at what the next design I’m working on next. 😀
