Yummm! Who could resist? All these need now is a basket! 😄
Base Coat all nails! I used OPI Nail Envy.
Apple! I put down a green base color for my background and used my largest dotting tool to make the sparkly red apple. It would probably look even nicer to outline you apple in black. I used my smallest dotting tool to make a “shiny” spot on the apple and the stem.
Grapes! My base color use was white, I used one of my larger dotting tools (not the largest)to sporadically place the grapes in somewhat of a cluster. Don’t have them too close or it will end up looking like a blob. I used my detail brush to add the curly stem and leaf.
Strawberry! Base color red. Use a darker green to make a saw toothed edge tip. To do this gently place the nail polish brush at an angle on the nail where you want the tip of the leaf to be and drag it downward off of the nail. Repeat until finish. Try not to place the brush to close to the previous leaf tip because they will just look like you did a sloppy french tip. It’s better to go a little bit farther away then you think it should just in case and then you can build it up if it needs it. For the seeds I used a yellow stripper polish and dabbed on the seeds. I used yellow because I thought it looked more like real seeds.
Watermelon!Creamy pink base color! Then start at the bottom with a dark green stripper and make a thing line int the tip of the nail. Make another line next to that one in a white. This next line is optional- pink! I did it this way because I think it looks nicer. If you don’t like it you can skip it. Now for the seeds you can use a dotting tool, I just used the black stripper brush and dabbed them on in somewhat of a row like you would see in a real slice of watermelon.
Kiwi! Base color is a shimmery lime green. make the center of the fruit “slice” by using a light green a making lines, very close together, into and oval shape. These lines don’t need to be uniform- just as long as they take the oval shape, leaving the center open. Make some seeds, same as before, using the stripper brush and dab them around the edges of the oval.
Sorry there is no “Polishes Used” List this time! I did this awhile ago. My collection has grown since I’ve done this design and I’m not sure which colors where used for some of the nails. I will try to make this list later. I hope you enjoy this in the mean time while I try to get some new designs together for next week. 😀
Quick Question! Does anyone play OMGPop?
As promised here’s the link on how to make your very own nail dotting tools! *****REMINDER****** This is NOT my own video! I do not know cutepolish personally but I do love her tutorials and received permission to share this on my blog. I’m constantly trying to learn new things from lots of different places such as youtube, magazines, internet etc. Yes, I could have made my own video, but I felt like this is where I learned this neat trick so, what better way to show you all where I learned it from then from the original herself. 🙂 Enjoy!
In addition to all that information, if you want an even bigger dot you could use a
nut or bolt cover (google cap nut to get the idea) from your local hardware store. The cap nuts are probably the best considering that its just a nut with a round cover on it and it has an opening so you can put it on the end of a pencil or pen. As for using it, it works the same way as a smaller dotting end, just make sure that there’s enough polish to dip it in to get a bigger dot. 😉
Now as forvmyself, I do have “official” dotting tools that I got on eBay. My experience on eBay has taught me that seller’s out of the US have it way cheaper then seller’s in the states do ( not always though!) so if you have the patience to wait longer then you can get a nice set of dotting tools ( & probably just like the same one’s I have) for a few dollars cheaper.
I think around the time I bought mine I wasn’t too keen on waiting and I got it from someone in the US for what I would consider a reasonable price (something like $5.99 and probably free shipping) and it seemed like right immediately after I purchased the set, cutepolish put up this video! I’ll admit I was somewhat devastated about all this! Like a sick, gut wrenching feeling. In my mind all I could think was “Omigosh, I could have bought at least 3 more polishes with that money instead!!!” 😄
