Pure Ice Heartbreaker Skittle Swatch

So this is the only thing I have been permitted to buy since my super strict “no buy” rule I’m on right now. I know it’s not new but I knew I had to have it. So I did a skittles swatch because I’ve already seen it on blues….lots. So here are some I thought might have interesting results. without futher ado- Pure Ice Heartbreaker

Pure Ice Heartbreaker

Pure Ice Heartbreaker

So HOPEFULLY I can remember what all of these where. And yes I know I might have made it seem like I was doing very different stuff but that phase is still alittle experimental right now. From left to right.  Wnw Black Creme, Sation Oh My Oceania, Sinful Colors Lavender, Sally Hansen Blue It, all with one coat of  Pure Ice Heartbreaker. I love this, it really makes things pop. My favorite combo is over the purple, it fills a void for a purple with blue/green shimmer. There’s really not much to say about this because as you can clearly see- it’s awesome. Barely noticable over some of the already shimmery polishes, but I think any creme will dazzle with this over it. Makes OMO look more like I was hoping it would be.

OPI Nothin’ Mousie About It

Oh hi! I saw some pre-press released pictures of the OPI Minnie Mouse Vintage collection way back and knew I’d have to have at least one…for Minnie’s sake!! Once I was finally able to see official photo’s and descriptions I knew hearts and a flakie based polish was a must have! So without further ado- Nothin’ Mousie About It.

OPI Nothin’ Mousie About It

One coat of Nothin’ Mouse About It over one coat WnW  Creme Black. Sally Hansen Insta Dri top coat. Good dry time. I did black because it really makes the purple and yellow/orange flakies pop in this. I’m guessing the base is a super sheer pink that could build up to what the bottle looks like but still will never be opaque. If I try it and my opinion on that changes, I will edit this! But until then I think if you want it to look pink all the way through without having to do 5+ coats, you’re going to have to do a pink base.

Anyways, over all, I love this. The OPI facebook fan page they have a helpful hint to getting the hearts out. Works alright, I feel like sometimes it doesn’t make a difference, but maybe a little easier as you use more.

New Maybelline Color Show Nail Lacquers!

June already?! I was wandering through Wally World the other day and stumbled upon a new and more then half empty display for Maybelline Color Show Nail Lacquers. I don’t own any Maybelline polishes so I grabbed 4 of these. I will say that it was hard to narrow it down to just 4- was was originally only going to get 2, haha. There were some awesome colors. Good thing I don’t own a credit card.

Maybelline Candy Crush

Maybelline Crushed Candy in 3 coats with topcoat. Dry time on these are pretty good for someone like me I really take that into consideration because I have too much to do and I can’t sit around waiting. Formula was fantastic, great coverage this seems more like its a heavy shimmer packed jelly, you can see a visible nail line in this photo. I was quite happy with this as I was comparing this to Revlon Wild Strawberry and felt like the purple/blue shimmer that flashes in this was more then Revlons.

Maybelline Amethyst Ablaze

Amethyst Ablaze is ONE coat in this photo.  This is labeled Metallics. Also it dries to a satin matte finish. You can also see any imperfection on the nail with this. 😛 Great formula great coverage. Next photo is with topcoat.

Maybelline Amethyst Ablaze

Maybelline Blue Freeze

Maybelline Blue Freeze

Maybelline Blue Freeze

Blue Freeze in 2 coats with topcoat. I picked this one up because in the bottle it has an amazing purple shimmer that flashes amazingly…in the bottle. IRL its not as prominent.  But I’m not entirely disappointed because this is still very very pretty. Formula is great build beautifully. Maybe a tad runny but not awful.

Maybelline Twilight Rays

Twilight Rays is in 3 coats and topcoat. This black based polish is loaded with gold glass fleck shimmer. After I saw how Blue Freeze didn’t live up to what I thought was in the bottle I was worried this would look nearly as good as it represented itself on the shelf. As you can see it did not disappoint!!! I just loooove this! Great formula as it with the rest of these.

So I’m not sure if our Walmart is always going to have these as the display is already taken down and the few bottles left were shoved onto a very random rack in the beauty department. I hope they do because these are great all around polishes and there were a few other colors I really wanted. Also if you check out Maybelline’s color wheel for these on their site- it is not accurate to what you see IN the bottle or ON the nail. They show #240 Twilight Rays as just #240 “Twilight” and a rather dark mossy green.

So have any of you seen these elsewhere? Have you snatched up a few?

Dubstep Art Inspired by Robin Moses

If you love nail art and haven’t heard of Robin Moses (robinmosesnailart on Youtube), you’re missing out…big time.

Here’s the original tut.

Lady has madddd skills. Here’s my variation of that.

 Image

It’s been awhile since I’ve put up any art!!! My model is my sister-in-law, who has been nicknamed Billy basically from birth. When I saw Robin’s tut I knew Billy would love the bright and dark combination… I would love this on myself but they way children are make this kind of effort impossible. I just love this! 😀 Oh before I forget. The black polish is WnW Black Creme. The rest is acrylic, top coated with Sally Hansen Insta Dri.

Gone Batty!

Here’s another Halloween design you can do- I promise this one is a lot less steps! XD

Now hopefully you all liked that this one was much shorter. If you don’t have a crackle polish you can always fake it with a plain black polish by dabbing square-ish shapes instead. If you have a plain black stripper this effects comes out even better.

Items Used:

  • Orange: Sinful Colors “Summer Peach”
  • Black Acrylic Paint
  • Black Crackle: China Glaze “Black Mesh”
  • Yellow: Sinful Colors “Morning Breath”

Here is a picture with different color variations. The eyes streaked a little bit due to using cheaper topcoat! I’m trying to save my more expensive stuff for my own nails! ;D The silver crackle was painted on from left to right & also from right to left!

Sports Balls

PLAY BALL! For those of you who are sports enthusiast here are some super fun sporty nails.

For any of the designs you could either do all fingers with the one ball of your choice ( or multiple balls ) or a fun alternative could be paint your thumb and ring finger in the ball of your choice and doing all others with a complimenting french tip.

For example if you like basketball, do the thumb and ring finger as the ball and all other with an orange tip maybe even go over the “smile” line with a black stripper to outline.

Another idea would be to do all the other tips with your favorite sports team’s colors!

Okay now for the breakdown of these designs. Basecoat all nails!

Balls You Hit! XD

The baseball can be done two ways. After putting down your white polish you can either take a detail brush and go in a zig-zag like motion to make it appear threaded  or just do the two lines curving in and then out again with a red stripper. If you attempt the zig-zag motion and you’re not used to doing detailed work, practice on paper until you’ve got a nice flow going. Also, if you don’t have a detail brush just try a toothpick. Finish with a top coat.

The tennis ball was very fun to make. I used a cosmetic sponge to sponge on the electric green. After that layer dries but still a little tacky I used the sponge again to sponge on a light layer of a very electric yellow (reminds me of a highlighter). I chose to sponge it so that it gives it more of a texturized look and feel.  After those dry use a white stripper to make your tennis ball seams. The same as the baseball, it’s just two lines curving in-out-in. These are very easy, just go slower if you’re not too confident in your abilities. I didn’t finish with a top coat so that it has a fuzzy tennis ball like look.

For the basketball use a bold dusky orange. You may need 2-3 coats depending on the opaqueness of your polish. You could also do your second coat texturized like the tennis ball with a cosmetic sponge. I haven’t tried this method for the basketball, but it might look good. After you coats are dry add the curving in-out-in lines and then 2 intersecting lines to finish the look. Finish with a top coat.

So for the football paint you nail all brown 2-3 coats. After it dries use a white stripper to make one line down the middle and then some intersecting lines for the threads. Finish with a top coat.

As for top coats instead of a glossy one, you could also use a matte top coat to make them seem a little realistic. If you do use a matte top coat for the tennis ball I suggest doing this before the white lines, but it’s not a rule and it’s up to you. I suggest this so that the line are glossy over top the “fuzzy” ball.

Polishes Used:

  • Baseball White: OPI “Alpine Snow”
  • Red “Threads”: OPI “Color So Hot It Berns”
  • Basketball Orange: OPI “Chop-Sticking To My Story”
  • Black Stripper: L.A. Colors Art Deco “Black”
  • Football Brown: Revlon “Hot For Chocolate”
  • Tennis Ball Green: Sinful Colors “Irish Green”
  • Tennis Ball Yellow: Sinful Color “Neon Melon”
  • White Stripper: L.A. Colors Art Deco “White”

So as always you do not need the exact same brands that I use.

Since I did these designs on my nail wheel, I didn’t use a base or top coat. Normally if I was sporting this (XD) on my own nail I would use OPI Nail Envy for my base coat and either my Seche Vite Fast Drying Top Coat or my matte top coat Hard Candy “Matte-ly In Love”.

So I hoped you like these and leave a comment telling me what one you liked or your favorite sport/team. 😀

Itty Bitty Paw Prints

Itty Bitty Paw Prints

This is my own design, using my own polish that I bought with my own money. 🙂

This design was requested by another friend of mine. 😉

I know that “IHaveACupcake” on youtube has a similar design that’s just as fun and easy. Check her out!

This design is super easy to do! All you need is a few of your favorite colors and a dotting tool (which you can make yourself!).

Put down a base coat and your favorite color (I used a magenta type of polish).

Put a few drops of your contrasting polish on a piece of paper or on a plate or an old lid of something- you get the idea- something you don’t mind ruining. You’re going to be dipping your dotting tool in this for creating the paw prints. I used a pearly white on my left and black on my right for the paw prints.

Putting on the paw prints are really easy. Now personally I like paw prints that look a little more realistic so I put three dots close together in a triangular shape using my largest dotting tool. If you feel like that’s too much work you can just do one larger DOT for the center pad of the “paw”.

Then after that use a smaller dotting tool and make the “toes”. As you can see from the picture I made the two in the center kind of close together and then the last two on the sides. Be careful to not go to far down the sides or away from the middle because then it will start to look like you just put a bunch of random dots on…. but that could still be cool! 😀

You can put as many paw prints as you want or very few if you prefer. For example my little finger doesn’t have as much space as my other fingers so I did just one paw print on it. Kind of reminds me of my old high school team logo, not the same colors though 😦

What I used:

  • Base Coat: OPI Naile Envy
  • Magenta: China Glaze “108 Degrees”
  • Pearly White:  Sinful Colors “Tokyo Pearl”
  • Black: Sally Hansen “Black Out”
  • Top Coat: Seche Vite

I’m hoping that soon I will start making some videos to make it easier to understand what I’m talking about most of the time. I’m sure a lot of people are a lot like myself when it come to learning new things- you have to see it!  Also I’ll be posting picture’s of my tool supplies and a link to a youtuber that has a tutorial on how to make your own dotting tools.  I’m also hoping to start adding to the tips and tricks section pretty soon! So please feel free to contact me with any suggestions or requests! Good luck and have fun!

✯-☆-★ Fresh Beat ★-☆-✯

This is my own design, using my own polish that I bought with my own money. 😉

I used a vibrant pink on all the tips of the nails. I painted a black crackle polish over the pink on just my thumbs and ring fingers. Then I lined the very top part of the painted tip in a magenta.

Sorry about the little finger!I didn’t remember to fix the nick on it, oh well! LOL

Polishes Used:

  • Base Coat- OPI’s Nail Envy
  • Pink- Salley Hansen HD “Digital”
  • Black Crackle- China Glaze’s Crackle Glaze “Black Mesh”
  • Magenta- L.A. Colors Art Deco “Magenta”
  • Top Coat- Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat

Feel free to be creative and use other colors if you like. Have fun ! And you don’t have to use the same brand to achieve this same look.
