So this is the only thing I have been permitted to buy since my super strict “no buy” rule I’m on right now. I know it’s not new but I knew I had to have it. So I did a skittles swatch because I’ve already seen it on blues….lots. So here are some I thought might have interesting results. without futher ado- Pure Ice Heartbreaker
So HOPEFULLY I can remember what all of these where. And yes I know I might have made it seem like I was doing very different stuff but that phase is still alittle experimental right now. From left to right. Wnw Black Creme, Sation Oh My Oceania, Sinful Colors Lavender, Sally Hansen Blue It, all with one coat of Pure Ice Heartbreaker. I love this, it really makes things pop. My favorite combo is over the purple, it fills a void for a purple with blue/green shimmer. There’s really not much to say about this because as you can clearly see- it’s awesome. Barely noticable over some of the already shimmery polishes, but I think any creme will dazzle with this over it. Makes OMO look more like I was hoping it would be.
So I’ve been on the hunt for this purple glitter for a while now. YES, it IS a Justin Bieber polish from the One Less Lonely Girl Collection- in his fave color. Luckily T.J. Maxx had it in a combo pack. So they ended up being…$3 a piece? Pretty good considering they’re more then double that at Target and Walmart. Can’t beat a good deal…and pretty glitter. O.O
One Less Lonely Glitter is one full coat on the ring finer and dabbed on the tips of the rest. I can see me using this glitter on LOTS of other colors. Very pretty, very easy to work with, subtle but pretty. Lavender glitter in a clear base could be opaque in 3-4 coats I bet. A right hand photo did you notice that? Haha, kind hard to do but its done lol.
Here’s a quick look at Sinful Colors Slate that I use underneath. 3 easy coats super nice and smooth. Subtle silver shimmer though it.
P.S. Sorry I didn’t clean up for some strange reason, I must have been to excited to photograph it. 😛
I bought this pack of polishes from T.J. Maxx averaging to be about $1 a piece. I hate that these do not have any names anywhere. I’ve even searched online and the only one I may have a name for is the yellow one “Sea shell”??? Something like that. So here are the pictures all just titled L.A. Colors. All with 3 coats.
So just quick side notes on each (click them for a better look) the pink is a jelly!! Green is a cremey-jelly. Blue, purple are cremes. Orange, yellow and grey are sheer and shimmery, the grey being more metallic. These are all pretty good formula wise but the blue seemed to drag a little. Still wish these had names Oh well.
Also on my own personal news- I’m sure nobody really reads this- I’ve been put of a very strict no buy for….possibly indefinitely. So I’m sorry that I will most likely NOT show anything new in the future. I am really sorry considering there are 2 from the OPI collection that I want (German-incure by OPI & Every Month Is Oktoberfest) and a very cheap Pure Ice “Heart breaker” that is really awesome and a must have to complete a collection. Some other blogger already have pictures of it so if you wanna see what I’m tlaking about…just google it I surely have more then enough to keep showing stuff- swatch wise that is. I guess this is just an extra push for me to really get back into the nail art. I have lots of ideas just lacking motivation right now- so I guess I will use the “no buy” as motivation.
I love purple ( I used to hate that too!) one of my top five favorite colors. I don’t have a favorite color really, it just depends one the day, mood, everything. In not particular order I like black, pink, purple, blue….not sure about green today. Invader Zim cartoon is a color scheme of most of my favorite colors if you know what I mean…maybe a tiny bit more pink then what you see on the show.
Pure Ice Busted 1 coat over Pure Ice No Means No and WnW Creme Black alternating fingers. Very smooth, very sheer, VERY glass flecked, a tiny bit duo chromed…. I like the dimension it adds to the purple but it really pops over black. Love it! I give it a 8.5 out of 10.
Here it is completely on it’s own 3 coats. If you like to wear sheer polishes alone I don’t see why not! This is very pretty.
Even though this summer is big for neons and all the major brands seem to have a summer neon line up, I found this collection at Ross early this spring. It really makes me hesitant to buy any of the new neons out there- as unbelievable as that sounds. Maybe they’re not as neon as some are now? Color Club Electro Candy was from summer 2009.
Formula wise I find these are great and pop if you have white polish for a base. All of these (except for Pure Energy<the blue one>) are one thickish coat on top of two coats of OPI Alpine Snow. I also used the “Vivid Top Coat” that came with the set. Which I believe to is to bring out the subtle shimmer in all of these. I must say subtle is definitely the word. A little more visible in person, regardless I ♥ these. If you don’t use top coat these dry to a dull finish. I can’t even say it satin matte because it isn’t!
The shimmer in What A Shock should be blue. And this color probably turned out more accurate then the rest.
The shimmer in Volt Of Light should be green. And the color should be a little brighter.
The collections namesake Electro Candy. Probably has the most visible shimmer which seems to be white. This is very bright but it should be a little more saturated in this photo. Think more like the “dark parts” and less like where the light hits it.
Tangerine Scream was insanely hard to capture and it make me wonder how well it would have turned out if I had a light box. This is not accurate at all and think more of a caution cone color with a silvery white shimmer. But I thought I would share the pictures because they look super cool to me.
Ultra Violet wasn’t nearly as bad as Tangerine Scream to capture but none the less the color is off. My camera has something against purples. What’s in the bottle in this pic should be a touch darker and it has a beautiful blue shimmer that is so pretty IRL.
Pure Energy is another one that should be a bit darker with a light blue shimmer in it. Super subtle in this one. Oh and this one is two coats over two coats of white.
So thats all and you can look forward to my using 3 of these in an upcoming gradient tutorial in video form. ;D
Hey! When I first saw these polishes I didn’t want to get any. The colors didn’t really stand out in a way that made me want them. I did eventually cave because there was a $1 off coupon on it! XD They sure know how to make a sucker out of me.
Polar Purple is of course one thin coat dried then followed by 1 thicker coat. No top coat for this pic. I find that you can’t take the directions too literally if you do a THICK coat the magnet will pull the polish up! I THINK that also have curved nails beds like mine might be a factor in that, seeing as the magnets are flat and not curved. My index finger is the one that pulled and that’s my most curved nail. I think these turned out really good and can’t wait to try my other magnets out with this one and also will feature a neat trick I learned from another nail blogger later.
The following picture is with top coat, which cause some of the lighter lines to streak downward. I didn’t wait 10 min. as some have recommended.
So lately I’ve been trying to hunt down a blue-green flakie since the flakies I do have are nearly identical and are the orange-yellow-green type. In addition to my Jellies js-24 and js-31 I bought this from fabuloustreet.com, Nfu Oh 50! So they have lots of awesome flakies and quite a few with blue-green flakies I just love the lilac base in this.
I’ve put this over a couple of the Maybelline Color Show polishes I posted a few days ago.
I didn’t picture it on the Candy Crush because it basically disappeared. I forgot that I didn’t have a picture of Twilight Rays with 50….Which is too bad because it looks sooooooo cool together!
Nfu Oh 50 is in one coat over these. Has good coverage and isn’t really thick. Has a topcoat on and just so much better IRL.
Hello! Now remember how I said that my camera seems to have issue’s with purple polish? This is one of them but not as bad as the Milani. This doesn’t look completely different from picture to picture. It just seems to be a little less purple then I thought it was. Also, I feel like I should mention that this is my first scented polish.
Revlon “Not So Blueberry” is in 3 coats here. Not very sheer but not opaque in one coat, builds up nicely and I would even say that the formula is perfect. Just my opinion. This seems to be glass flecked. In the bottle it almost looks like a duo chrome sort of color with a blue and purple, but its barely noticeable on the nail. you can almost see it in the 2nd pic. Either way I’m not too disappointed by that I love this color.
So you all probably know this but there isn’t a scent until this polish dries. The smell of NSB really reminds me of a blue dum dum pop. I’m thinking it’s more like the blue raspberry. I didn’t do a top coat in these picture but I did wear this again and with a top coat and I could still smell them. It wasn’t still a bit “smelly” for a few days, probably could have went longer but I took it off for more swatching. I almost wish this wasn’t scented because its not over whelming but a little weird when you’re eating something (pizza for example) and its conflicting with the smell what you’re eating. Pepperoni blu raspberry, anyone?
So in conclusion, scented polishes are fun but I wouldn’t buy them for the smell. The other scented Revlon I wan’t is “Beach”, a really pretty green that leans towards yellow. I expect that will smell a lot less fruity.
Hello! FIRST! I must warn you that I have a lot to say about the following polish!
Today I want to show you the hardest polish to capture on camera! You will see in a few pictures that it almost looks like they are completely different colors. I think its just my camera, because after this I have another purple polish that doesn’t look like how it is when I have it in my hand or on my nails. But maybe partly it does seem a bit different outdoors.
Milani Purple Passion is 3 coats with Sally Hansen Insta dri top coat. This is really smooth and has a hidden blue and pink shimmer that is really stunning outdoors. There was some bubbling but I’m not sure if that had something to do with my top coat?? I will have to re- swatch and update about the bubbling….. These are all outdoors, some are outdoors with a diffused flash.
When I was outside swatching this it all looked like the same thing I was looking at with my own two eyes at the moment. When I started looking at them on my computer I noticed the very first two pictures where NOT even close to being the same color. Then I put my finger next to the screen and was like “Whoa! This looks more blue then purple!”
That is actually compared to the picture above and it leads me to believe my camera just want’s it to be BLUE. So, thats STILL not exactly right. Imagine if you will….a little lighter, more of a royal purple color. Thats what it looks like inside. Sorry this ended up very disappointing. Still a pretty color, just wish my camera didn’t freak out!!!
Here it is with Milani One coat Glitter Purple Gleam
If you’re wondering- this is one coat, a slightly thick one with SH topcoat. It wasn’t clumpy either. This is made up of mostly purple and black glitter in a (very light) black tint base. I had to spread it out very thin with a nearly dry brush on a white piece of paper to even be able to tell that the base was very lightly tinted. That’s how densely packed this is. Its a little on the gritty side when dry and definitely needs a top coat. I used 2 coats of top coat for the following pictures.
