OPI Announces Collaboration with Multi-Platinum Selling International Superstar Mariah Carey

LOS ANGELES – August 10, 2012 – OPI Products Inc. announced a collaboration today with multiple Grammy Award winning and multi-platinum selling recording artist Mariah Carey. A five-time Grammy Award winning global superstar with over 200 million records sold worldwide and 18 Billboard No. 1 singles (more than any solo artist in history), Carey will be the inspiration for a line of OPI limited edition nail lacquers that will launch January 2013.

OPI is thrilled to work with Mariah, an industry icon who loves nails and considers lacquer one of her favorite accessories,” says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “With her magnetic personality both on and off the stage, Mariah serves as a great inspiration for beautiful, bold colors.”

About Mariah Carey:

With a distinct five-octave vocal range, prolific songwriting and producing talent, Carey has defined the modern pop performance. As a singer/songwriter/producer, she has been recognized with five Grammy Awards, nine American Music Awards, Billboard’s “Artist of the Decade” Award, the World Music Award for “World’s Best Selling Female Artist of the Millennium,” and BMI’s “Icon Award” to name a few. Mariah has written seventeen out of her eighteen Billboard No. 1 singles and has two consecutive and unparalleled Billboard “Song of the Decade” titles “One Sweet Day” (with Boyz II Men) and “We Belong Together,” further marking her massive presence on the charts since her 1990 song debut “Vision of Love.” Mariah became the second artist in history and the first female performer to have a song debut at No. 1 with “Fantasy” (1995), the groundbreaking collaboration with O.D.B. of the innovative rap group Wu-Tang Clan. Carey’s original holiday classic “All I Want For Christmas is You” redefined its place in pop culture as one of the greatest holiday hits of all time when it reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts in 2011, seventeen years after its debut. Mariah’s influential and stellar contribution to the music industry spans multiple genres and is showcased through a multifaceted hit catalogue as well as a long list of diverse collaborations.

Carey’s ongoing impact transcends the music industry and has left an indelible imprint upon the world at large. She recently made a substantial mark in film with her critically acclaimed role as a social worker in “Precious,” the 2009 film based on the novel “Push,” by Sapphire. A Congressional Award recipient, Carey has generously donated her time and energy to a range of domestic and international philanthropic causes near to her heart including The Fresh Air Fund/Camp Mariah (a retreat where inner-city children explore career development), Save the Music Foundation and Make-a-Wish Foundation among several others.

Mariah is currently in the studio, writing, recording and executive-producing her next album for Island Def Jam Music Group; the lead single “Triumphant (Get ‘Em),” is now available on iTunes. Recently Carey made worldwide headlines with the exciting news that she will join the judges’ panel of FOX’s American Idol when the series returns in 2013.

Nicole by OPI, One Less Lonely Glitter

So I’ve been on the hunt for this purple glitter for a while now. YES, it IS a Justin Bieber polish from the One Less Lonely Girl Collection- in his fave color. Luckily T.J. Maxx had it in a combo pack. So they ended up being…$3 a piece? Pretty good considering they’re more then double that at Target and Walmart. Can’t beat a good deal…and pretty glitter. O.O

Nicole by OPI. One Less Lonely Glitter

One Less Lonely Glitter is one full coat on the ring finer and dabbed on the tips of the rest. I can see me using this glitter on LOTS of other colors. Very pretty, very easy to work with, subtle but pretty. Lavender glitter in a clear base could be opaque in 3-4 coats I bet. A right hand photo did you notice that? Haha, kind hard to do but its done lol.

Here’s a quick look at Sinful Colors Slate that I use underneath. 3 easy coats super nice and smooth. Subtle silver shimmer though it.

Sinful Colors, Slate

Sooooo pretty!

P.S. Sorry I didn’t clean up for some strange reason, I must have been to excited to photograph it. 😛

Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy: Milky Way

I’ll admit that this collection was very inciting but a bit pricey even with a $2 off coupon. I bought this one above all others because I’ve been wanting a silver shard glitter.

Revlon Moon Candy; Milky Way

The dark grey polish that came with this is an easy one coat I did two I’m sure. The glitter base is a little thick but surprisingly even coverage. Two coats on the ring finger. A little chunky. I like this quite a bit! What are your thoughts?

L.A. Colors Dance Fever Collection

I bought this pack of polishes from T.J. Maxx averaging to be about $1 a piece. I hate that these do not have any names anywhere. I’ve even searched online and the only one I may have a name for is the yellow one “Sea shell”??? Something like that. So here are the pictures all just titled L.A. Colors.  All with 3 coats.

So just quick side notes on each (click them for a better look) the pink is a jelly!! Green is a cremey-jelly. Blue, purple are cremes. Orange, yellow and grey are sheer and shimmery, the grey being more metallic. These are all pretty good formula wise but the blue seemed to drag a little. Still wish these had names :\ Oh well.

Also on my own personal news- I’m sure nobody really reads this- I’ve been put of a very strict no buy for….possibly indefinitely. So I’m sorry that I will most likely NOT show anything new in the future. I am really sorry considering there are 2 from the OPI collection that I want (German-incure by OPI & Every Month Is Oktoberfest) and a very cheap Pure Ice “Heart breaker” that is really awesome and a must have to complete a collection. Some other blogger already have pictures of it so if you wanna see what I’m tlaking about…just google it  :\ I surely have more then enough to keep showing stuff- swatch wise that is. I guess this is just an extra push for me to really get back into the nail art. I have lots of ideas just lacking motivation right now- so I guess I will use the “no buy” as motivation.

Press Release: OPI Fall 2012 Germany Collection

OPI Launches the Germany Collection for Fall/
Winter 2012

OPI embraces runway trends with the Germany Collection for Fall/Winter 2012. Drawing inspiration from Berlin, an exciting new fashion hub that blends classic looks with the avant-garde, the collection’s twelve shades offer a mixture of vibrant color, urban-chic neutrals, and reds in variations from light to dark.

“Designers showcased rich colors and striking textures for fall,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “The Germany Collection beautifully complements these looks, with standout shades in various hues of red and burgundy – the season’s ‘new black.’ Sapphire, black olive and lime yellow are married with creamy neutrals in honey, taupe and nude rose.”

“The overall feel of the Germany Collection is elegance with an edge,” adds Suzi. “The varied palette of colors adds another accent to the list of special touches – think beadwork, paneling, fur and embroidery – that walked the runways during New York Fashion Week. Wearing these shades on fingers and toes is a great way to accessorize a range of looks for the season.”

Germany by OPI includes the following shades:

Pure Ice Busted

I love purple ( I used to hate that too!) one of my top five favorite colors. I don’t have a favorite color really, it just depends one the day, mood, everything. In not particular order I like black, pink, purple, blue….not sure about green today. Invader Zim cartoon is a color scheme of most of my favorite colors if you know what I mean…maybe a tiny bit more pink then what you see on the show.

Pure Ice Busted

Pure Ice Busted

Pure Ice Busted 1 coat over Pure Ice No Means No and WnW Creme Black alternating fingers. Very smooth, very sheer, VERY glass flecked, a tiny bit duo chromed…. I like the dimension it adds to the purple but it really pops over black. Love it! I give it a 8.5 out of 10.

Pure Ice Busted

Here it is completely on it’s own 3 coats. If you like to wear sheer polishes alone I don’t see why not! This is very pretty.

Revlon French Roast

Don’t you hate when you forget to clean your screen on your laptop and you’re sitting there thinking, “What is on her face?! Oh wait…” Let that be a lesson kids don’t surf and eat…. 😛 Haha. Well this next polish is super interesting!

Revlon French Roast

Revlon French Roast 3 coats one top coat, is a creme brown with a glass fleck in it that shows a rainbow of colors. Just look at it! I think the name it very fitting to me it looks like a bag of coffee beans. This is from the Colorstay core line and I was actually going to get a different color until I saw this! I was like…meh…brown…wait…WHHHHHHAAaaAATTTTT?!?!?! O.O This is very smooth and no problemos with it. I will have fun with it more this fall I think. Like I said before- I don’t really go by season much as to what colors I wear- it’s just that there are so many fun neons I need to wear right now I wont be able to try this again until fall haha.

China Glaze, Blue Sparrow

Oh how I loathe and ♥ this polish. So beautiful in the bottle yet so very difficult to deal with! ALSO IT’S A FAKE!  As in it’s labeled as “Splish Splash” from the summer 2012 collection but alas its not, I have been fooled.

China Glaze Splish Splash

China Glaze Blue Sparrow looks pretty cool in the bottle but it the biggest pain to apply. I did it out doors so maybe that’s a factor, but it dragged a lot and clumped up and dried out fast. Which is why this looks so bumpy. 3 coats and a top coat very pretty but maybe not worth the hassle. If I do put this on again I will do it indoors and I will update this post! It might make a slight difference- but until then- this is all ya get.    -.0
